From 2018-2021 Dr. Ulrich Nußbaum was State Secretary in the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs, responsible for the directorates-general for economic, industrial and external economic policy, for digital and innovation policy and for SME policy. He was the Federal Government’s coordinator for projects abroad that are of strategic interest to the Federal Republic of Germany.
Before he chaired the Executive Board of Deutsches Verkehrsforum (German Transport Forum) from 2015-2018. He has been Professor of International and European Commercial Law and Financial Relations at Jacobs University Bremen since 2011. From 2008 to 2014 Nußbaum was Minister of Finance in the State of Berlin. From 2003-2007 he held the same position in the State of Bremen.
Prior to this, he held various executive positions in the seafood industry. He completed his law and political science studies at the Universities of Saarbrücken, Trier, Geneva, Strasbourg and London as a doctor of law in 1985.

Dr. Ulrich Nußbaum is CEO and managing partner of a group of companies in the seafood industry, as well as chairman of the advisory board of Alba Group, a leading company in the international waste management industry.
