His first overseas posting was Cairo (1997-2000) followed by Tripoli (2000-2004). He also served in Tokyo (2006-2009) as Counsellor (Political), in Mauritius (2009-2013) as Deputy High Commissioner, and as Minister (Information and Media and Indian High Commission’s Spokesperson) in London from 2013-2015.
Shri Pise had also served in Eurasia and UNES Divisions in the Ministry of External Affairs as Deputy Secretary (2004-2006) dealing with Russia, CIS and Central Asia, and UN matters related to economic and social issues.
Shri Pise served as Ambassador of India to Tunisia from January 2016 to June 2019 before returning to Delhi for taking up the responsibility as Deputy Director General in ICCR (Indian Council for Culture Relations) to promote India’s cultural diplomacy and ‘soft power’ from July 2019 to July 2021.
Shri Pise is a marathoner and ultra trail runner and has participated in more than 30 marathons and 40 ultra marathons, including the legendary 105-mile UTMB (Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc) twice in 2015 and 2016, which is considered the Holy Grail among ultra marathoners. Shri Pise was among the only four finishers from India in 2015 in this ultra marathon, which is one of the most difficult endurance races in the world where a runner goes through Alpine summits, rivers and glaciers across the countries – France, Italy and Switzerland.
Shri Pise is married to Dr. Radhika Pise and they have a daughter and a son.
